Hello everyone,
A couple of things:
First: I received "Sailing Forward" Pin from PDK International. This pin was in recognition of officers who had contributed $ 50 in addition to their regular membership dues. Did everyone else receive their pin? If not, I can check into this. It should have come to you in a letter addressed to "Dear Kappan"...
Second: I want to announce to everyone that Dr. Andre Elliott is now a George H. Reavis Associate. This honor was given to him in recognition of his "long-term commitment and support of the Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation." Since the establishment of the foundation in 1966, only 390 have achieved Associate status!!
The letter to Andrew goes on to state, " At a time acceptable to you, your chapter may enjoy arranging presentation for you at a chapter meeting." Andre, I believe, (correct me if I'm wrong Andre), will received a bronze medallion, framed certificate, and lapel pin" in St. Louis? However, I strongly suggest that we honor Andre in our meeting as well. I would like to make a motion that we honor Andre in our current chapter meeting to include this wonderful recognition as part of our agenda. I'm not a cyberspace expert, so how could we best do this?
Third: Membership contact and recruitment is not going as well as I would like to see. I did send an email to two people suggested by Marion. I have not gotten a response. Marion, can you resend me their email addresses? Maybe I wrote them down wrong and that is why I have not heard? Although if that was the case, I would have gotten back an "undeliverable message' wouldn't I have?
There was one person who I thought was interested in membership, but she is a vice-principal in a private school and said that she didn't see how she would fit into our chapter. Anyone else got that response? I will contact International to get more of the membership drive brochures . Unless any of you have extras. Do you?
