Letter to our Chapter,
September 2003

with photos of donated books and students

To all the wonderful, generous Walden PDK activists for
"positive social change"
(particularly educational!)

I am writing to repeat how grateful our Indiana Avenue School staff is for being selected as recipients of the Literacy Project donations.

The summer staff watched in amazement as the "wish list" books poured in over the summer, and I was deeply touched upon arriving back in late August to prepare for the new school year, to be excitedly shown the bounty of books (by my principal, Mrs. Dorothy Fernandes, and the heart & soul of our school, office executives Mrs. Dawn Jasper and Mrs. Shirley Nelson) within minutes of my arrival! Your kindness and awareness of how to really reach deserving and needy inner city students will make a huge difference in many children's educational experiences for a long time to come. Thanks to you, we have initiated an Arts Collection area of the fledgling library. How this will enrich the students!

You all are the BEST, as is our outstanding PDK chapter!

Again, thanks from us all,
Jennifer Pullman
